My interest in the Autism Spectrum came from years of attempting to understand what goes on for me in mind, body and spirit. As a child I was considered a “sensitive child”, “a dreamer”, “easily distracted” and being “the fire engine” of the family because the early meltdowns or overwhelms expressed as tears – it just took me many years to work that out. In adult years the tears became anger (and then tears), and now with different tools and techniques I have come to know myself and what works that supports me in daily living.
What I use is the accumulation of everything I have gathered over the years in dealing with life from the experience of life and years of self analysis, observation, questioning and research.
I am a researcher and I have been researching autism, interventions and the heart/brain connection for many years.
My main interests have been – Education, Neuroscience and Technology and I have managed to wrap all of those together in my current studies. I am almost finished a Masters of Learning Science and Technology.
Things I support:
- Where the individual is at and where they would like to get to
- The uniqueness and abilities of those on the Spectrum
- No one solution, but tools, techniques and strategies which work for the individual
- Drug free solutions, tools, techniques and strategies
- The capacity of the individual to change, if they choose
- Making complex information simple for others to understand
- Using technology tools to support education and other aspects of living
- Different perspective on the basis that everything is energy
- Equine Assisted Learning
You are the expert in your own life, so my role is coach programs that support the choices you make, and guide you in the direction you would like you life to go in, with individualised programs and individualised progress with group programs.
I have worked for many years in the field of IT after careers in teaching and accountancy. It is this combination of skills where I am able to contribute in my own unique blend of insights in the virtual and physical worlds.
My other arenas of life are as a mother of an independent adult, a teacher/trainer from school to corporate, a business woman, a software designer, an e-learning instructional designer. And I like to have a few adventures, travel and sometimes have a ride on a horse (not often enough!).
So with all activity I participate in, I come from the heart, with compassion and understanding.
With gratitude
Adrienne
